As we both wanted a Sicilian theme we chose personal touches such as fresh lemons (with the stalk), Limoncello cocktails and olive branches.
The whole vibe for the reception was rustic and fresh, we decided to keep the colour palette to white and green as we wanted it all to feel Mediterranean.
I wanted to celebrate my Ghanaian heritage without obscuring the theme, so I wore cloth called Kente on my shoulder and my bridesmaids carried fans made from Ankara fabric.
I feel like the Italian Ghanaian fusion was unique in itself and really personal to us.
Weddings are always a great occasion to celebrate and have fun. But what made ours truly unique was that it was the first time everyone could come together for large events since the pandemic broke out. Our wedding had been delayed from 2020 to 2021, so all our family and friends were ecstatic that we were finally able to get married; everyone’s hearts were filled with so much joy and love.
The venue, Heath Farm was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. Jemma the host was very helpful with contacts for other suppliers and helped us navigate the COVID rules to ensure our day went ahead safely.
We had some incredible suppliers, 19/29 Agency, the bar service were amazing! They made us some delicious cocktails using limoncello. Not only that, we booked them to serve at a bar but they ended up serving everyone drinks upon arrival, at the tables during the speeches and wedding breakfast and they helped clear the tables for the dance area. They went above and beyond!
We decided to undertake the florals ourselves and chose Sunflower Spalding Ltd. a well priced cash and carry for flowers. They were brilliant and super helpful in sourcing everything I wanted, including the lemons, great flowers and greenery.
Peri and his team at Element Events Uk, were really reassuring and explained everything clearly so we knew what to expect in the day. The service was great, they made everything come together with the marquee and market lights in the courtyard, the chairs, tables and cushions.
Michaela at The Boho Bridal was a calm energy in the morning when I was so anxious. She had great attention to detail and really listened to what I wanted my makeup to look like. I had originally booked someone else but after a bad trial, I was nervous about getting my makeup done professionally. She was patient and really listened to me, and fit me in last minute on the day of the wedding.
Alex Wallace Photography took my preference of candid photos on board, she captured so many happy moments and truly got the vibe of the day through her photos. Alex was a pleasure, making sure to involve everyone.
The whole process of having my dress made was fabulous and I couldn’t recommend Lisa Lyons Bridal more!
After struggling to find a dress in bridal shops that suited my style and budget, I found Lisa on Hitched , the online wedding platform.
When I first met her, she immediately made me feel welcome and at ease. She’s knowledgeable, professional, and so personable and affable.
She was equally excited about the look I was going for and reassured me whenever I was unsure. She worked with me to find materials that would make my dream dress come together and was patient throughout the process.
After all the fittings, all the material decisions, the cut and fit decisions, and the long hours of sewing no doubt… The result was the PERFECT dress for me. It’s so unique, so special and the best quality. All the details in the boning, the fit, the tulle sleeves, the glitter tulle layers.. I felt incredible wearing it and All the guests were blown away. My husband was so overwhelmed with emotion when saw me walking down the aisle, he couldn’t stop crying!
Thank you Lisa for the most amazing experience – I’ll never forget it, and for creating the most amazing dress.
